General job description

Responsible for developing server-side web application logic, the PHP Developer position requires a firm grasp of PHP back-end programming and a commitment to writing efficient, scalable, and secure code. The PHP developer also maintains and optimizes existing web applications, contributes to all phases of the development lifecycle, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Develop, test, and maintain web applications using PHP and related technologies.
2. Collaborate with front-end developers and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
3. Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code following best practices.
4. Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core product software to ensure strong optimization and functionality.
5. Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle.
6. Develop and deploy new features to facilitate related procedures and tools if necessary.
7. Ensure compliance with PHP best practices, security guidelines, and web standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Required skills and experience

• 3+ years of proven experience as a PHP Developer in a competitive environment.
• Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks (such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, Symfony, etc.).
• Good understanding of MVC design patterns.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies, including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, jQuery, XML, and XHTML.
• Experience with object-oriented PHP programming.
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages.
• Good understanding of web technologies, including APIs, RESTful services, and web security.
• Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit) and debugging tools.
• Understanding of web security principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools.

Nice to have/ preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular.
• Experience with cloud services and infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
