Typical duties and responsibilities

1. Create and implement software applications, systems, and services based on project requirements, ensuring functionality and scalability.
2. Work closely with other engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
3. Ensure high-quality code standards using appropriate programming languages and frameworks, following best practices like code reviews, version control, and documentation.
4. Apply design patterns to solve complex problems and ensure code reusability and maintainability.
5. Perform unit, integration, and system tests to ensure the software is functioning as expected. Troubleshoot and resolve any defects or issues.
6. Refactor legacy code, improve system performance, and ensure software remains up to date with evolving technical standards.
7. Review peer code to maintain code quality, share knowledge, and identify potential improvements.
8. Contribute to architectural decision-making, ensuring software solutions are scalable and maintainable.
9. Create and maintain technical documentation for code, designs, and system architecture to ensure clarity for future development and troubleshooting.
10. Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines to streamline software delivery.

Required skills and experience

• 2-4 years of experience as a software engineer or a similar role.
• Depending on the project requirements, proficiency in one or more programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C++, or Go.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, and understanding of the full development cycle from concept to deployment and maintenance.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including services like EC2, S3, or Lambda.
• Proficiency in modern frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Django, Spring) with strong knowledge of JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI for automated testing and deployment.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing applications.
