General overview of the role

A salesperson is responsible for identifying potential customers, generating leads, and achieving sales targets. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the sales process, and the ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.

Additionally, the candidate should have a good grasp of modern sales tools and technologies, including CRM software and digital communication platforms, to effectively manage and streamline sales processes.

Typical duties and responsibilities

  1. Identify and develop leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and social media.
  2. Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to prospective customers.
  3. Clearly articulate the value propositions of the company’s products/services.
  4. Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  6. Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  7. Develop and execute a sales strategy to achieve organizational sales goals and revenues.
  8. Stay up-to-date with market trends, industry news, and competitor activities.
  9. Provide feedback to the sales manager on market conditions, product performance, and customer feedback.
  10. Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, customer interactions, and sales progress.
  11. Prepare regular reports on sales metrics and performance for review by the sales manager.

Required skills and experience

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively convey information, listen actively, and adapt messaging to the audience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with digital communication platforms and sales tools, such as Salesforce, HubSpot, and Mailchimp.
  • Possesses charismatic qualities and strong data analysis skills to understand and evaluate effective methods in the current market.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

  • Certification in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  • Flexibility to adjust strategies and approaches based on customer feedback and changing circumstances.
  • Experience with sales forecasting and pipeline management to drive strategic planning and achieve sales targets.
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and targeting techniques to tailor sales strategies to market segments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
