General overview of the role

A Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, fostering relationships with potential clients and driving overall sales growth. The BDR collaborates with sales and marketing teams to generate leads, qualify prospects and arrange meetings with potential clients. They play a key role in expanding the customer base and driving revenue growth.

Typical duties and responsibilities

  1. Identify and create new business opportunities through market research, networking and outreach.
  2. Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.
  3. Contact potential clients via phone, email and social media to present our company and services.
  4. Build strong relationships with potential clients to understand their needs and provide relevant solutions.
  5. Arrange meetings or calls between prospective clients and Account Executives.
  6. Report to the Business Development Manager on (weekly/monthly/quarterly) sales results.
  7. Stay informed about new products, services, pricing and payment plans to communicate offerings to potential clients effectively.
  8. Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the market.
  9. Tracking and analyzing customer feedback and adjusting outreach approaches accordingly.

Required skills and experience

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques, including cold calling.
  • Proficiency in using CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) to track and manage sales activities.
  • Familiarity with MS Excel (analyzing spreadsheets and charts).
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
