General overview of the role

The role of Chief of Staff involves supporting executive leadership by managing strategic initiatives, streamlining operations, and facilitating communication across departments. Over time, this role may involve representing the CEO in meetings and making key decisions on their behalf.

Typical duties and responsibilities

  1. Oversee and manage strategic initiatives from development through successful execution.
  2. Support executive leadership in decision-making, project management, and implementation of key initiatives.
  3. Act as a liaison between the executive team and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  4. Streamline operations and processes to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Prepare and manage executive correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  6. Coordinate and manage special projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  7. Facilitate executive meetings, including agenda setting, minute taking, and follow-up on action items.
  8. Conduct research and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  9. Manage executive calendars, travel plans, and other administrative tasks.
  10. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.

Required skills and experience

  • Over 3 years of experience in senior management roles, specializing in operations, strategy, and finance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice to have/preferred skills and experience (not required)

  • MBA or other advanced degrees.
  • Experience in a specific industry relevant to the organization (e.g., healthcare, finance, technology).
  • Experience leading or managing organizational change initiatives, including developing strategies for effective communication and implementing change processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, including using analytics tools and methods to drive strategic decision-making and performance improvements.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and executing strategic initiatives, including project management, process optimization, and driving business growth.
