In my previous role, I was deeply involved in a variety of projects aimed at enhancing cloud infrastructure management and automation. One significant endeavor was centered around developing a Hybrid Cloud management platform utilizing RedHat CloudForms, which I dedicatedly contributed to until IBM’s acquisition of RedHat led to the discontinuation of support for the CloudForms platform. Throughout this project, which encompassed a vast network of over 30,000 servers boasting an impressive provisioning success rate of approximately 98%, my responsibilities spanned diverse facets of automation processes for enterprise cloud services management.
This encompassed intricate tasks such as designing and implementing integration processes for provisioning, configuring, and recovering Virtual Machines. Additionally, I spearheaded the design and implementation of processes for inventory discovery across Private clouds, seamlessly integrating the platform with Service Now for streamlined operations. The technological stack utilized in this endeavor comprised a blend of RoR, Bash, PowerShell, ServiceNow, CMDB, Python, Vmware, OpenStack, VCD, Hyper-V, Azure, CFME, IPAM, REST, SOAP, all orchestrated within a Kanban framework.
Another pivotal project I contributed to was the Billing Platform, where I initially served as an Integration Architect before assuming the role of Solution Architect for the Back-end site. This initiative aimed to deliver a robust solution for collecting performance and capacity data across private clouds, leveraging a micro-service architecture. My involvement encompassed the thorough analysis of business requirements, negotiation with Platform and Business sites, solution design, core functionality implementation, integration with external systems, code review, testing, and release coordination. Key technologies employed included Python, Flask, Keycloak, ServiceNow, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB, VMvare, and Docker, orchestrated under a Scrum framework.
Furthermore, I played a pivotal role in the development of a Private Cloud monitoring and alerting system, focusing on designing the integration aspect to collect and unify data from disparate sources such as Sensu, DataDog, and Prometheus, and integrating it with PagerDuty. Responsibilities included defining alert management processes, implementation of integration components, and conducting code reviews, all orchestrated within a Scrum framework using Python, Elastic, Celery, PagerDuty, Sensu, DataDog, and Salt.
Another significant contribution was towards the Private Cloud automation engine, initially aimed at generic cross-platform automation tasks and later evolving into an Orchestration tool utilized for executing Ansible Playbooks. This entailed the design and implementation of backend components based on a micro-service architecture, along with the development of the engine using Python, Celery, RabbitMq, Flower, and Redis. Additionally, I assumed the role of Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) towards the project’s culmination.
In addition to these major initiatives, I also lent my expertise to projects involving storage management, vCloud Director connector implementation, IPAM connector development, and various MVP/POC endeavors related to AWS, Hyper-V, security, and ServiceNow integration. Throughout these diverse projects, my focus remained on delivering robust, scalable solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of cloud infrastructure management.
