Senior AI Engineer
We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join a global pharmaceutical company building AI systems for its own business teams. The work spans research, manufacturing, supply chain, finance, procurement, and commercial functions, where people bring real operational problems and expect working software in return. The team delivers retrieval-based assistants, copilots, and agents that carry out multi-step tasks, running on Microsoft Azure and Databricks and built to meet the validation and compliance standards of a regulated industry. You will own the path from a business question to a system running in production: shaping the problem with the people who raised it, choosing the technical approach, building a prototype, and turning it into a reliable, monitored service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who is comfortable when requirements start out unclear, works well with little supervision, and takes ownership of what they ship.

5+ years of professional software or data engineering experience
2+ years building LLM applications in production
Strong proficiency in Python, with clean, production-grade code
Experience with LLM application frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent agent frameworks
Production experience with agentic AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, tool use, and planner/executor or supervisor patterns
Hands-on experience with RAG pipelines, including chunking, embeddings, and retrieval evaluation
Experience with vector databases such as Azure AI Search, pgvector, Pinecone, or Weaviate
Experience evaluating and monitoring LLM applications with LangSmith, Langfuse, or in-house evaluation harnesses
Experience with Microsoft Foundry (formerly Azure AI Foundry), Azure OpenAI, and Databricks
Experience with Git-based CI/CD for AI workloads
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal English, including explaining AI capabilities to non-technical stakeholders Nice to have
Experience in a regulated industry such as pharma, healthcare, or finance, with an understanding of compliance constraints
Fine-tuning, distillation, or other model adaptation experience
Open-source contributions in the LLM or agents ecosystem
Familiarity with React or Streamlit, enough to integrate AI features into user interfaces Responsibilities
Gather requirements from business teams across R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, finance, and procurement
Design AI solutions for those requirements with a clear, measurable business case
Prototype quickly with real or synthetic enterprise data, then take successful prototypes through MVP to production
Build RAG pipelines, copilots, and agentic workflows on Azure and Databricks
Design prompts and structured outputs for LLM-based features
Set up evaluation frameworks, model validation, guardrails, and safety and compliance checks
Deploy and maintain AI components on Azure, monitoring performance, cost, and output quality
Apply API and data security practices to AI services
Work with full-stack and frontend engineers to integrate AI features into applications
Work with QA on testing AI output quality and with product on the roadmap
